How to avoid Wake Turbulence





Pilot should remember three basic warnings concerning Wake Turbulence

  1. Do not get too close to the leading aircraft.
  2. Do not get below the leading aircraft’s flight path.
  3. Be particularly wary when light wind condition exist.

Takeoff

  1. Lift off before rotation point of taking off traffic ahead.
  2. Lift off beyond touch down point landing traffic ahead.

Landing

  1. Touch beyond rotation point of taking off traffic ahead.
  2. Touch before touch down point landing traffic ahead.

Climbing and Approach

Maintain position above traffic ahead’s flight path.
